RLWC2021 marks 200 Days to Go with new campaign – This is Real Impact

Rugby League World Cup (RLWC2021) has today launched its new campaign ‘This is Real Impact’ officially marking 200 days until the biggest and best RLWC2021 arrives in England later this year. The event, which will officially open on 15 October, is set to make a huge impact across the nation, welcoming the world’s best teams and galvanising civic pride in England’s towns and cities.

The RLWC2021 is the pinnacle major event of rugby league, globally contested every four years. This year’s event will be a breakthrough moment in the tournament’s history with the men’s, women’s and wheelchair competitions being staged together for the first time.

Working in collaboration with the RLWC2021 team, the entire Cube International group, including Cube Partnership, Cube Management and Cube Modular will be working collaboratively to install, operate and manage bespoke official merchandise stores at each of the 61 matches across the men’s, women’s and wheelchair tournaments.

The three tournaments will take place across 21 venues throughout England. Both the women’s and wheelchair competitions will be contested by two groups of four teams, whilst the men’s tournament will see 16 teams compete across four groups.

Cube Partnership, RLWC2021’s Official Retail Partner has designed and operates the official RLWC2021 online store, which was launched last year. The official online store has proven to be a world class ecommerce service, offering fans a comprehensive range of exciting merchandise for the biggest and best RLWC2021 in history. Cube will also manage the retail operation at all matches and venues.

Retail stores will be provided by Cube Modular, the portable building division of the Cube group, including Continest containers, the world’s most sustainable, foldable container, a product that offers an impressive 80% CO2 emissions reduction against standard container use. The Continest stores will be installed at the venues by the Cube Management team, a well-established event operations and services business, which also works in a wide range of other sports including F1, NFL, UEFA, cricket and golf.

The Women’s Sports Alliance, a global story telling platform, also part of the Cube International group, will be working closely with RLWC2021 to bring to light some of the most inspirational female player journeys to the World Cup. With behind the scenes access, courtesy of RLWC2021, to some of the most exciting players and coaches, the WSA will build hype not only around the teams, but the tournament as a whole, including championing the inclusivity element of the tournament through film, photography and journalistic means.

Cube’s RLWC2021 Business Director, Andy Smith, said: “The entire Cube team is delighted to be working with RLWC2021 and we’re looking forward to bringing our exciting products and stories, and a great retail and fan experience for spectators and fans attending and watching the RLWC2021. It’s going to be a great spectacle!”

To celebrate 200 Days to Go, RLWC2021 are offering fans a limited period ticket upgrade offer. Fans will be able to purchase a Category C ticket and be automatically upgraded to a Category B ticket.

As part of the celebrations, RLWC2021 will take the three Men’s, Women’s and Wheelchair World Cup trophies to all 17 host cities and towns in a whirlwind 48-hour cross-country tour. Fans can follow the Trophies Tour live on RLWC2021’s official social media channels Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and Facebook, with access to exclusive content including interviews, tour snaps and behind-the-scenes footage.

The RLWC2021 is set to be the most visible rugby league event in history with all 61 games in the men’s, women’s and wheelchair competitions being broadcast live on the BBC.

  • First retail store for Birmingham 2022 launches at Bullring, New Street
  • Extensive range of Birmingham 2022 official merchandise on sale
  • Perry, the official Birmingham 2022 mascot was there to declare the store officially open.

The first Official Retail Store for Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games has opened today at Hammerson’s Bullring Estate. Located on New Street by the iconic Bullring, the 3,200ft² store is stocked full of official Birmingham 2022 merchandise, including clothing, hats, caps, water bottles and soft toys. Sports fans can also get their hands on Team England T-shirts, vests and hoodies.

Perry, the official mascot of Birmingham 2022, was there to open the store and will be making special appearances at the store over the coming months. To mark the opening, the first 50 paying customers were lucky enough to receive 25% off their total bill.

Open seven days a week, the store will employ 25 people and overall more than 400 jobs will be created as part of the official merchandise programme. Where possible, staff will be recruited with the support of the Commonwealth Jobs and Skills Academy, launched by the West Midlands Combined Authority to generate job opportunities for and improve the skills of local people.

Midlands-based company, Cube International, was appointed earlier this year as the Master Licensee responsible for designing, sourcing, delivering and retailing official licensed products at all the official Birmingham 2022 retail stores they deliver.

Hammerson’s flagship destination transformed Birmingham city centre when it was developed and continues to be at the heart of the city’s social, cultural and arts programme.  Hammerson worked closely with Birmingham 2022 and the Master Licensee to support in the delivery of prime retail space in the heart of the city for the launch of the official merchandise programme.

Ian Reid, Chief Executive at Birmingham 2022 said: We thought that this busy part of Birmingham city centre, with so many people passing through, was the ideal location to showcase our official Birmingham 2022 merchandise.

“With less than 250 days to go until the Games begin, we’re really excited to be opening the store in the heart of Birmingham. For many people, the store will be their first experience of Birmingham 2022, so this is a really momentous occasion for us. I’m encouraging all people, whether you’re from the West Midlands or a visitor to Birmingham, to show your support, get behind the Games and buy some official Birmingham 2022 merchandise!”

Alongside the Birmingham city centre Official Retail Store, around 40 official retail stores will be set up at a number of other city centre locations, transport hubs and Games venues in the run up to and during the Games.

Cllr Ian Ward, Leader of Birmingham City Council, said:Buying some of the fantastic range of official Birmingham 2022 merchandise is a great way for people to show their support for the Proud Host City and the biggest event to ever be staged in our region.

“The new retail store is in a prime position in our city centre, giving the hundreds of thousands of people who come into Birmingham every day a convenient way to pick up souvenirs and items ranging from polo shirts to pin badges to Perry soft toys.

“I’m sure the store will be a well-received addition to our retail offer and I am delighted by the employment opportunities it will be offering for people in the city.”

Paul Blanchard, CEO at Team England, said: We can’t wait to see fans in the crowds of packed stadia and venues wearing their Team England merchandise to support their home team, which will be so important to our athletes. For those competing for Team England in Birmingham 2022, the Games will be a truly special moment for them to perform in front of a home crowd. For many, it is a once in a lifetime opportunity. We’d love you all to get your Team England merchandise and show your support to the fantastic athletes who are working so hard in training to make the nation proud next summer.”

David Leather, CEO of CGF Partnerships, said: As preparations for the Games continue, the first store will help to create an inspiring brand identity that gives the public the chance to own a part of the Commonwealth Games story and piece of history. We’re really excited to be involved in re-invigorating the Birmingham city centre retailing offer.”

Stephanie Lacey, General Manager of Bullring, said: “Bullring is a major landmark in Birmingham and a must for overseas visitors coming to the city.  It’s great to have the first Official Retail Store of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games located at the Bullring as the energy and excitement builds ahead of 2022.

We continually look for new ways to engage new and loyal customers and the new Commonwealth Games store not only complements but enhances our offering.”

The store will be open from 10am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sundays. The store will also have extended Christmas opening hours. For more information, please visit Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Official merchandise can also be bought online at the Official B2022 Online Store.

Cube Expands Global Footprint

As the sports retail and ecommerce division of the Cube International group, we’re delighted to have opened a warehouse in India to expand our global footprint, and service our partners’ fans in South Asia. Further additions to Cube’s global network, including warehouses in Europe and North America, will follow soon.

By expanding our global footprint, the Cube group will be able to fulfil to local fans and offer them the shipping prices and Cube service they expect. Challenges concerning import duties and taxes, that are involved with cross-border shipments, will also be removed.

After establishing that a large percentage of traffic from our Caribbean Premier League online store, fully managed and operated by our in-house digital and merchandise team, comes from India, we have been busy building a close working relationship with a high-caliber, third party company local in India. The resulting partnership has enabled us to operate our fulfilment service for domestic orders directly from our new Bangalore-based fulfilment centre. We are delighted that through this partnership, we are able to offer local delivery prices to local fans throughout South Asia and use payment gateways more commonly found with the Indian sub-continent.

Our team, managing ecommerce sites and online merchandise services for major global events and brands, including Aston Martin FI, Solheim Cup, Rugby League World Cup and Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham, offers the same superior fulfilment service to fans and spectators across the world.
