From the moment we read the competitive tender for the key role of Official Retail Partner for RLWC2021, it was clear that this was an event with big aspirations:

  • To be the biggest and best RLWC2021 ever and the most digitally connected sports entertainment event of 2021
  • To increase the profile and visibility for Rugby League and to leave a long-lasting legacy in the Rugby League community and its heartlands
  • To value social impact and inclusivity alongside commercial success

The ambition is high and the logistics of the event challenging. It’s not just one tournament, but three. For the first time ever, the Men’s, Women’s, and Wheelchair events will take place concurrently, with 32 national teams from around the world playing 61 matches over 36 days at 21 different venues in October and November 2021.

We are delighted to have won that tender and to be working with Rugby League World Cup 2021 Ltd. as its ‘Official Retail Partner’. We have set ourselves the goal of building a world class retail and merchandise programme that befits what will be a world class event.

Designed, developed and managed by our in-house digital team, the official online store, launched in September 2020, is the first to use our state-of-the-art Cube Tech System. It incorporates the latest digital technologies, and offers consumers a world class e-commerce experience whilst delivering the best possible integration of data, CRM, and marketing with RLWC2021’s wider marketing and comms plans.  

The store includes an exclusive range from Official Apparel Supplier, Kappa, plus new tournament logo and England fanwear capsule ranges designed and sourced by Cube. Further products and ranges will be added in the months leading up to the event.

During the tournament, we will work with our sister companies Cube Management & Cube Modular to design build and manage official tournament stores and pop-ups at all 61 matches, with structures and range plans designed specifically for each match.

Our sales and admin team will also ensure that sponsors, suppliers and other stakeholders have access to the best premium merchandise, so that they can activate their partnerships fully.

If ever there was a project tailor-made for our commitment to partnership and collaboration, this is it. We are relishing the challenge.
