Mother Earth Day: Our Commitment to Sustainability

Contributing to sustainable development has become a core element of Cube Partnership’s business strategy. We are increasingly focusing our activities on devising solutions to the challenges presented by climate change and protecting the environment. To us sustainability is a natural part of being a successful business and we always strive to act in an ethical, transparent and responsible way, encouraging our business partners and suppliers to do the same.

As part of Cube International, our group’s policies and procedures aim to aid the mitigation of carbon emissions, improve energy and materials efficiency, protect the safety and wellbeing of those who work for, and alongside, us, increase stakeholder awareness and enhance the long-term economic viability of the brands, rights holders, events and businesses we support. Through Cube’s ISO20121 certified Sustainable Event Management Policy we are committed to considering the external and internal issues relevant to our purpose.

We strive to continuously review and improve our sustainable development policies and the management systems we use. By following our policy and ethos we endeavour to display continued leadership in event sustainability management.

CUBE’S COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY PROGRAMME

The Cube International group’s Commitment to Sustainability programme, sets the framework for continual refinement and improvements with regards to minimising the environmental impact of our operations.

These include the following commitments:

  • Reducing the carbon footprint of logistics across all operations
  • Reducing waste associated with branding, packaging and manufacturing across all operations
  • Reducing energy use and wastage across all operations
  • Increasing the use of recycled materials
  • Providing a safe and healthy workplace
  • Protecting the long-term health of ecosystems through responsible use of natural resources

For Cube Partnership specifically, as the sports retail, ecommerce, licensing and merchandise division of Cube International, Cube’s Commitment to Sustainability Programme extends to include the following:

LICENSING & PRODUCT SOURCING

Transparency – we partner with licensees and brands who share their supply chain and champion fair trade, human rights, and sustainable sourcing.

Packaging guidelines – as part of the Style Guide, licensees are required to conform to eco-friendly packaging guidelines e.g., compostable polybags and recycled print materials for swing tickets etc.

Packaging innovators – we work with innovators in packaging to provide a standard range of LEAVE NO TRACE garment bags. Bags are produced from Aquapak’s Hydropol™ polymer, an environmentally friendly, biodegradable, non-toxic, water-soluble, marine safe alternative to polluting single use traditional plastics such as LDPE (see more).

Over production and waste management

  • We offer Limited Edition collections which not only increase demand but also boost sell-through.
  • Product launches are carefully timed to avoid duplication.
  • We partner with a nominated charity, such as TRAID, to donate left-over apparel stock.

E-COMMERCE

Mailer Bags – we use 100% Recycled Biodegradable Mailing Bags: Green Bio Mailing Bags made from 100% recycled material for industrial composting.

By making sustainability an integral part of our strategy and operations, we aim to achieve long-term returns and generate a positive impact for society and the environment, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations and the Paris Agreement. We want to make sustainability an integrated part of all our global business relationships and work closely with our suppliers and business partners to achieve long lasting impacts across our entire value chain.
